In the first episode of documentary series I Am, Marama shares a candid and courageous account of living with the diagnosis. She reflects on the stigma, fear, and isolation she endured when HIV was widely seen as a death sentence, and how she transformed her experience into a sense of purpose — becoming a powerful advocate for Indigenous women living with the disease.

Literature — local and global — is  celebrated and critiqued in the third season of The Good Word. Across 15 episodes, presenter Emily Perkins hosts a book club where three panelists provide their thoughts on a novel. Actor Jennifer Ward-Lealand , ex censor Bill Hastings and broadcaster Gordon McLauchlan are frequent guests. Perkins then introduces a celebrity or artist who discusses their favourite book, before the show leaves the studio to visit a New Zealand writer at the place they work. Finally, Finlay Macdonald hosts ‘Under the Covers’, which deep dives on a piece of literature important to Aotearoa; from novels to cookbooks to children’s books.
